Are you ready to Get It Together?

Are you ready to Get It Together?

With a couple of sudden family emergencies in 2024, I decided to bring you along on my journey updating the "Get It Together" resources that Nolo offers in their organization book and forms.

I'd purchased a copy previously. I pulled it out and looked, that was the 7th edition which is dated 2016; how time flies! The current 11th edition was released in September of last year. When I first purchased the 7th edition, I started working on it; but now, some parts are complete but not up to date, and there were some parts that I just never got around to. One of my personal goals in 2025 is to update and complete the assignment, and you're invited to join in if you'd like to do the same.

I've purchased a digital copy of the book and we've uploaded it to the "Reports" folder in your Vault on your Client Website. If you don't have a login to your Client Website, we've linked EPUB and PDF versions of the book below. First step is to locate the book! If you don't see it, just send Beth an email and she'll get one to you.

Start by opening up the book (it's been uploaded in 2 versions, EPUB and PDF). You can open the PDF on most computers. The EPUB version works on e-readers such as Kindle and Apple Book. When you first open it, you'll see that it's 401 pages long. Lots of those pages are blanks that you get to fill in. Not sure about you but I didn't have a 150 page book writing assignment in my plan for the year! Don't despair...just like any organization project, you can tackle this in steps and prioritize the most important areas to you!

Once you've opened the book, read "Your Get It Together Companion" and then review "Complete Your Personal Planner". That second section is extremely helpful - it walks you through the steps to get your planner going in detail, including the decisions you'll make on how to store your planner, which sections are most urgent (so you can decide when to complete them), what to tell those who need to know where to find your planner, and finally, how to update your planner.

That should be enough to get you started and excited about the possibility of having your important personal facts - financial and otherwise - in place for your loved ones.
